This is the hobo stove I made today for a propane gas cylinder. I designed it to work as not only a wood burning hobo but also as a alcohol stove. I don't like depending on one source for anything and attempt to build in redundancy into everything I do, just listen to me speak, lol. Beware of using a propane cylinder that has not been properly emptied before doing any cutting on the vessel. Use the "Green key" or an nail in the valve pin to release residual gas. Follow the manufactures instructions! Don't do this if you have any doubt of your capabilities. If you intend on using a cylinder with the sculpted bottom as mine; you must tap the bottom down with a hammer to provide a level surface. This can be done after removing the plastic bottom from the cylinder. I used a furnace duct crimping tool to crimp (flute) the top and bottom of the simmer ring. A crimping tool is just not something everyone has but they can be purchased at about any hardware store. I wouldn't buy one just to make this design. I guess I'm not very thrilled with the stability of this then again I don't believe there really is any portable, lightweight stove that is stable with a pot full of hot liquids on top of it commercial or otherwise. Be careful!
